Being integrated into DEX order routing sets the stage for Peapods to become one of DeFi’s most competitive liquidity markets.
3/ How does DEX routing benefit Peapods?
Quick recap: A Pod token (pTKN) is a yield-bearing wrapped version of a ERC-20 token (similar to an LST) that can be wrapped or unwrapped for a fee.
Routing transactions through Pods renders a Pod token’s DEX liquidity equivalent to that of the underlying (= podded) token, therefore directly adding to its liquidity depth.
4/ For projects with Pods, this means Pod liquidity = additional liquidity – supporting the podded token's price during sell-offs.
Integrating Pods into order routing now allows this extra liquidity to dampen sell pressure instantly, rather than having the token sell off first and then be arbitraged back up to the Pod token’s price – providing an even more attractive liquidity setup for investors (and therefore projects).
5/ Example: How does order routing through Pods work? (1)
Alice wants to swap 100,000 $WILD tokens for $USDC.
Without Pods, the route delivering the best rate for Alice may look like this:
Step 1️⃣: Swap $WILD for $wETH
Step 2️⃣: Swap $wETH for $USDC
The transaction fully routes through a Uniswap v2 and v3 pool.
Alice receives 20,006 USDC.
6/ Example: How does order routing through Pods work? (2)
With Pods integrated into @GluexProtocol, some or all of Alice's transaction is routed through Peapods, wherever it provides the best outcome.
If $WILD trades at a discount to its wrapped version $pWILD, GlueX can secure a better rate for Alice by routing part or all of her order through the $pWILD Pod:
Step 1️⃣: Wrap $WILD for $pWILD on Peapods
Step 2️⃣: Sell $pWILD for $pfUSDC on Uniswap
Step 3️⃣: Redeem $pfUSDC for $USDC on Peapods
Alice receives 20,596 USDC - an almost 3% better outcome.
In this example, since pWILD is overpriced compared to WILD, selling pWILD yields more USDC for Alice than traditional trading routes.
This route also works in the other direction if $WILD trades at a premium to $pWILD.
